Virtual Instructor-Led Courses

Online instructor-led courses focus on developing the skills needed to be an effective sex educator. Each course includes one of our self-paced courses to help build content knowledge, followed by multiple facilitator led online sessions that meet at pre-established times (courses are 4 or 5 sessions long, depending on the topic). You and your cohort will interact through video chats, peer feedback and skill sharing via web cam. The course ends with a practice and coaching session using the Advocates for Youth Virtual Classroom Simulator where you’ll practice applying your new skills with AI students.

Cultural Humility & Responsiveness

Through the self-paced course, you learned to channel your passion for teaching through exploring ways to make education culturally responsive. You know how to take the attention, awareness, and the innate ability to make all youth feel welcome. Now you’ll build on that foundation.

Inclusive and Affirming Facilitation

Through the self-paced course, you learned how to channel your passion for teaching by exploring ways to make LGBTQ+ sex education and discussions inclusive and affirming. Diving deeper

Facilitating from a Trauma-Informed Lens

Through the self-paced course, you focused on understanding techniques to create and sustain a trauma-informed learning environment. You know how to communicate, accept, and validate these emotions in others. Now, you’ll build on that foundation. Learn skills and apply techniques needed to create and sustain a trauma-informed learning environment, and to identify and work with young people who may be exhibiting behaviors based on previous trauma.
